As a service laboratory, we offer LC-OCD-OND analysis to customers worldwide.

You are welcome to send us samples at any time — the laboratory operates year-round without scheduled closures.

After receipt, analyses are typically completed and results returned within two working days. Example reports are available in our Downloads section.

Sampling & Shipping

A detailed guide covering all aspects of sampling, shipping, and special sample types is available for download: Sampling and Shipping Instructions (PDF)

Sampling

LC-OCD-OND is a highly sensitive technique capable of detecting trace levels of dissolved organic carbon. Reliable results therefore depend on clean, uncontaminated samples.

Please approach sampling with this in mind — small external contaminations can have a measurable impact on the result.

Key considerations:

  • One flask per sample is sufficient. Do not pre-treat samples — no filtration, no additives, no freezing.
  • Rinse each flask twice with the sample before filling. Leave a small air space after closing.
  • Avoid external sources of contamination during sampling (e.g. skin contact, cosmetics, aerosols from breathing or smoking). Use powder-free gloves where possible.
  • Use self-adhesive labels — felt-tip pens release organic solvents and should not be used directly on flasks.

Minimum sample volume: > 40 mL per sample. For Ultrapure Water (UPW), a minimum of 1000 mL is required due to the pre-concentration step involved.

Special Sample Types

  • Marine waters: Please clearly label these samples as “marine sample” on the flask or accompanying documentation.
  • Ultrapure water (UPW): Analysis of UPW requires pre-concentration and involves a significantly higher analytical effort. Minimum volume: 1000 mL.
  • For other special sample types or non-standard matrices, please contact us in advance.

Shipping

Please ensure samples are adequately packaged to prevent breakage during transport. Each flask should be wrapped individually with sufficient cushioning material.

Samples should ideally reach our laboratory within 2–3 days after sampling. For longer transit times or warm-season shipments of heavily loaded samples, pasteurisation prior to shipping is recommended — details are provided in the PDF guide above.

Sampling materials can be provided upon request.

Customs declaration (for international shipments):

  • “Distilled water samples for analysis, no commercial value” — Tariff no. 28530010
  • “Sea water samples for analysis, no commercial value” — Tariff no. 25010010
  • Declared total value: below 20 €. No specific delivery time window needed.

Reports & Invoicing

  • Reports are issued in PDF format by e-mail, typically within two working days of sample receipt.
  • All reports are strictly confidential and remain the exclusive property of the customer.
  • Invoices are issued digitally after completion of work, denominated in Euro (€) only. Payments are accepted in Euro exclusively.
  • Payment by bank transfer (IBAN/BIC provided on invoice) or credit card.
  • For pricing, please contact us directly.

You are welcome to send samples at any time or get in touch in advance — we are happy to advise.
